Directions:
If you want to write your own pirate journal, draft a message in a bottle, or make a map that looks just like the real thing, you'll first need to make some paper that looks like parchment.
1. First, use the scissors to give the paper a rounder, rougher shape. Cut around the entire edge of the paper, rounding off the sides and corners. Ask an adult to help if needed.
2. Crumble the paper up into a ball! (Really!)
3. Uncrumble the paper and let it get as flat as you can.
4. Lay the paper on top of the cookie sheet or about 3 paper towels. The cookie sheet or towels should be on a surface that is okay to get wet, let the kitchen counter.
5. Dip the tea bag in the water until the water starts to turn slightly brown.
6. Wipe the wet tea bag across the entire surface of the paper until it is covered with brown tea water, dipping the tea bag back into the cup as necessary. You don't need to drench the paper, but make sure the entire surface is brown.
7. Let the paper dry overnight.
8. In the morning, make sure the paper is dry. It should look and feel like parchment paper!
Now you are ready to write your own pirate invitation or pirate journal. Put these in the message in a bottle & ship them off to your best friends for a party! (It's true-you can really mail these! It cost 66 cents)
