Directions:
Read "Thunder Cake" by Patricia Polacco. Make the recipe for Thunder Cake. It's at the end of the book. It's delicious! Recipes are a terrific way to introduce many math concepts including adding, sequencing and fractions.
Second Idea: Act out the story. When the granddaughter is counting the thunder, have the reader "pound" the thunder on the ground.
